About Rik and 4AB Agility
Although, I've been around dogs most of my life, I've only got into agility in the last 5 years (2011). After completing a puppy class at AA Dog Training, we went on to do agility with our Black Lab "Chiquita". I never expected to enjoy it so much and never really appreciated how much it is a team effort between handler and dog. After a while, I started helping out at the agility classes and my wife took over with working with Chiquita.
I then started helping out at Puppy Classes before taking the "Train the Trainer" course (also at AA Dog Training). Once I had completed the course successfully, I then broadened my training and over the next 4 years, taught in many different classes such as Pet Gun Dog, Obedience, Puppy classes, Back to Basics, Dogsports and a Rescue Class. But my passion and enjoyment never strayed from Dog Agility and in Nov 2012 I started a 2 year diploma course with the British College of Canine Studies.
A few months before successfully completing my diploma with distinction, I became Senior Agility Instructor at AA.
As well as the day to day teaching, I was responsible for seeing dogs through their gradings and putting on various displays.
As much as I enjoyed my job and thoroughly loved all the dogs (and people) in various classes at AA, I eventually decided in early 2016 that I wanted to concentrate just on fun agility and to try and go it alone..... and so, here we are at the birth of 4AB Agility.
I hope to provide good fun agility lessons for dogs of all breeds and will gauge success on happy dogs and smiley humans rather than trophies on a mantlepiece. To begin with, I intend to start off just holding classes on a Saturday afternoon but if I have the numbers to make a class viable, then I will look to add some extra classes
